Ian McFeron and The Band are a Seattle-based group who formed in January 2003, and it hasn’t taken them long to seriously get it together. What originally worked well as a duo (McFeron and Milner) has grown into a project with a full and mature sound, thanks in part to the friendships that exist between the members. Their first album, "Don’t Look Back", was released in 2003, and the buzz around Ian McFeron and The Band has been growing ever since. They’re happy to bring the music they love to play to audiences in coffee shops and pubs across Seattle. But just what does this music sound like? Ian McFeron and The Band are a self-described group of "groove-based, bluesy folk- rock music that combines rhythm and lyric, treble and bass". Alisa Milner’s fiddle adds support to the emotions that run through the songs on "Don’t Look Back"; plaintive at times, like in the title track, but joyous at others, as heard on "Love Me Twice". While it’s not fair to compare their sound to anyone else’s, as they are quite original, Ian McFeron’s voice is reminiscent of David Gray. This group has already found favor among Mountain listeners, winning the March 30 th edition of the New Music Throwdown with their song "Love Me Twice". Take a listen to the song for yourself, and find out why Ian McFeron and The Band have had no problem making a name for themselves in their hometown.
